SYNOPSIS

Me-me, a seagull chick, hates eating garbage, which her whole flock seems to love! One day she gets enough and nips fresh food from a diner on pigeon turf. This not only upsets the pigeons and the diner chef but also Me-me’s flock. So much so that she gets banned for breaking the birds’ turf truce!

     Missing her family, especially her twin brother Yuyu, Me-me tries to make amends, but only makes things worse instead, irritating the diner chef even more.

    Unknown to Me-me, the survival of her entire flock and the pigeons will soon depend on her when the chef decides to get rid of the pesky birds, calling pest control.

WRITER'S STATEMENT

watching seagulls fight over garbage AT A LOCAL AMUSEMENT PARK. My children AND I LAUGHED AT HOW SILLY THEY WERE. MY TWINS  could get like that at times, squabbling OVER NOTHING, COMPETITIVE. LAUGHING AT THE gulls I mentioned “why don’t they work together to catch fresh fish INSTEAD?”
AND SO HOT DOG BUBBLE GUM WAS BORN.

Theme – Autonomy and authority

HOT DOG BUBBLE GUM is about using the ego for the good of the group instead of just for oneself.

    It is about the choices we make in life, affecting whom we become and our place in the world.

    It’s about believing in yourself while helping others, even if it means being a seagull amongst pigeons.
